Wigilia Supper
π About This Tradition
Wigilia, the traditional Christmas Eve supper, is one of Poland's most important celebrations. The meal consists of 12 meatless dishes (representing the 12 apostles), and families wait for the first star to appear before eating. An extra place is always set at the table for an unexpected guest or deceased family member.
Did You Know?
The meal includes carp (often kept in the bathtub beforehand!) and sharing of the Christmas wafer (opΕatek).
