The Yule Lads
๐ About This Tradition
In Iceland, instead of one Santa Claus, there are 13 mischievous Yule Lads (Jรณlasveinar) who visit children on the 13 nights leading up to Christmas. Each lad has a distinct personality and prank - from door-slammers to sausage-stealers. Children leave their shoes on windowsills, and the Yule Lads leave small gifts for well-behaved children or rotting potatoes for naughty ones.
